Modern slavery statement.

Published 2026CleanHive Ltd · Registered in England & Wales

CleanHive Ltd is committed to ethical business conduct and to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chain. This statement is published voluntarily. As a small business operating below the statutory turnover threshold of 36 million pounds, we are not legally required to publish a statement under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We choose to do so because we believe transparency about labour standards is the right approach.

1. Introduction

CleanHive Ltd is a managed cleaning platform registered in England and Wales. We connect short-term rental hosts with professional, self-employed cleaners across the UK, starting in Manchester. We were founded in 2024 and are based in Manchester. This statement covers our financial year and is approved by the company director. Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking, and forced labour. CleanHive has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery and is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings.

2. Our Business and Supply Chain

CleanHive operates as a technology-enabled platform. Hosts of short-term rental properties book cleaning services through our web platform. Cleans are carried out by self-employed cleaners who have applied to join the CleanHive platform. These cleaners are not employees of CleanHive Ltd. They operate as independent contractors, set their own working arrangements within the platform, and are responsible for their own tax, national insurance, and employment obligations.

Our supply chain is straightforward and low risk. It consists primarily of: the self-employed cleaners on the platform (UK-based individuals), software and infrastructure providers (established UK and international technology suppliers), and cleaning supplies and equipment, which individual cleaners source independently from UK commercial retailers. We do not manufacture goods or operate physical facilities that are common risk environments for modern slavery.

3. Our Policies

CleanHive is committed to fair and transparent working relationships. We operate the following policies relevant to modern slavery:

  • Right-to-work verification: All cleaners joining the platform are required to demonstrate their right to work in the United Kingdom before being accepted. We do not onboard any individual who cannot evidence this.
  • Zero tolerance for forced labour: We will not knowingly work with any individual or organisation involved in forced labour, trafficking, or exploitation in any form.
  • Transparency about work arrangements: All cleaners are clearly informed of the self-employed nature of the arrangement before and during onboarding. There is no obligation to accept any particular job.
  • Transparent payment: Cleaners are paid for completed work at agreed rates. Payment timelines and amounts are communicated clearly.

4. Due Diligence

Our due diligence process for cleaners joining the platform includes: identity verification, right-to-work document checks, a review of relevant experience and references, and an onboarding conversation to ensure the individual understands and agrees to the terms of the self-employed arrangement. We maintain records of these checks. We conduct ongoing engagement with cleaners on the platform and encourage them to raise any concerns about their working conditions or those of others without fear of negative consequences.

5. Risk Assessment

We consider the risk of modern slavery within our business and supply chain to be low, for the following reasons:

  • All operations are based in the United Kingdom.
  • Cleaners are self-employed individuals with a direct, transparent relationship with CleanHive.
  • Payment is made directly to the cleaner, with no intermediary labour brokers or agencies in the chain.
  • We have direct, ongoing contact with all cleaners on the platform, which makes concealment of exploitation difficult.
  • Our supply chain is short and largely domestic.

We review this risk assessment annually and will update our practices if the nature of our business or supply chain changes in a way that increases risk.

6. Training and Awareness

We maintain internal awareness of the signs of modern slavery and human trafficking. All team members involved in cleaner onboarding are made aware of indicators of exploitation, coercion, or trafficking and know how to escalate concerns. We support the reporting of any suspected cases to the relevant authorities, including the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) and the Modern Slavery Helpline (0800 0121 700). Any individual who raises a concern about modern slavery will be treated with confidentiality and will not face any detriment for doing so.

7. Our Commitment

CleanHive Ltd is committed to continuous improvement in our approach to preventing modern slavery. We will review this statement annually and update it to reflect changes in our business, operations, or risk profile. This statement has been approved by the director of CleanHive Ltd and reflects our position as of 2026.
